The end of November saw us head over to Anglesey Abbey in Lode, Cambridge for the evening to see the dress rehearsal of their hugely successful and sold out Winter Lights 2014!
A party of 65 of us were very fortunate to have a private tour of the grounds, which extend 114 acres in total, by Linda and her team who were the perfect hosts. We can’t recommend highly enough taking in the Winter Lights if you get the chance in such peaceful and charming surroundings. The history of the abbey site dates back to the early 1100s but it wasn’t until 1600 that it was converted in to a country house and gained the name “Anglesey Abbey” which remains today. The house fell into disrepair over the years and it wasn’t until the 1930’s that improvements were made and the owner at the time, Lord Fairhaven, began to collect beautiful furniture, artworks and statuary that is in the Abbey today under the care of the National Trust.
A huge thank you to the team at Anglesey Abbey for working with us on this and making it such a memorable evening.
