New charity to help families with children with additional needs
A new charity group has been launched in Soham to support families with children with additional needs.
Little Miracles Soham is currently using the Sure Start Children’s Centre, in Pratt Street, as its base but its committee soon hopes to have its own centre in the town.
The charity, which is in partnership with Little Miracles Peterborough, has been set up to help any local families who have children with additional needs.
Mum-of-five Rachel Parker, who lives in Soham and has two children with autism, is chairman of the charity’s committee.
She said: “Our aim is to basically support local families who have children with additional needs and to provide activities and outings for those children.
“All of us involved in the charity have at least one child with additional needs so we know that help and support is vital.
“We are currently based at the Sure Start Centre but we’re aiming to have our own centre soon.
“We’d love to be able to open Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm eventually and lay on a programme of activities for families with additional needs.”
